Theres fighting in every contact sport, it’s more about how it’s handled by the sport and if the players are willing to suffer the consequences. In the NHL there’s no consequences but obviously letting 2 goalies dance prolly no bueno.

No argument here. I am just sure lawyers and the NHLPA would get involved and say well, Chris Simon stomped on a guy and only got X games.
It's were there seems to be a conflict of interest with the NHLPA. They have to protect the players. But they have to protect the cement head idiots (IE Tom Wilson) who run around trying to hurt other players.

Colorado passed the Wild today for 2nd in the Central, they both play 5 more games and then play each other on the 29th.
We play a pretty good New Jersey team and a wildcard Seattle team. Also playing Washington, Philly, and Chicago.
Colorado plays a wildcard Pittsburgh team, Chicago, Arizona X2 and Anaheim. They have 4 games against pretty awful teams.
Dallas has a similar murderer's row coming up of Seattle, Pittsburgh, Vancouver, Chicago and Arizona.
If the Wild don't take care of business in these next 5-6 games, they can probably say goodbye to home ice in the first round.

I would agree... but I think part of the officials incompetence is on the league as well. They are "enablers." Most officials arent fearful for their job, after you've made it 2-3 seasons... you're not getting fired unless you pull a Tim Peel.
The NHL continues to pull officials from the same leagues/areas. There are 44 Full-Time NHL Referees - 35 are Canadian and 9 are American. So roughly 80% of the referees are Canadian, while only about 52% of the players are Canadian. That isn't a little bit fishy? The league continues to get the same type of officials from the same backgrounds and ends up with the same results.
They don't take European Referees (maybe a couple linesman), and hardly any Referees from the USHL system. Even though more and more players are coming from those leagues. I'd say the percentage of Canadian Major Junior players has dropped from 15 years ago. Maybe the percentage of officials coming from there should drop slightly as well. Broaden your cast...
The officials are not above criticism, but I blame the league more than the officials.
